MOON SHADOW
Health:
Perfect!
Personality:
Riding: Very temperamental. Very good with any rider that is determined and not scared of Moonie’s ‘threats’.
She will kick out at the stick and throw little jumps to test her riders but stops, once she gets going, then she is starts moving forward and becomes easy to ride. Flexible. Very good on lunge + used for beginners, as she listens well and is an extremely comfortable ride. Moonie is not a good pony for a nervous rider, riding alone.
Box: Can try to intimidate the person inside her box by showing ugly faces, but does seldom actually do something. She is ticklish under her tummy.
Info:
Moonie was owned and competed by a little girl in Sa in showing, before she came to us, before that, she was a rescued (you can see marks on her legs-marks from her previous abuse). We think this reflects in her kicking and mistrusting people around her tummy/back. Moonie is a real mare.
Disciplines:
Dressage: Definitely not her strong side, she does not like the dressage arena nor the tests but with the right rider she’ll get going and does what’s asked from her.
Jumping: Loves to jump, but needs a rider that is with all the time. Will slam on breaks even when moving forward well if rider gets too relaxed. Once she gets going she flies! And is almost IMPOSSIBLE to beat! She can jump up to 90 cm courses, but needs a competent rider. Jumps 70-80 cm at home with less experienced riders.
Out rides: Can get a little strong when cantering, and sometimes shy away when bigger trucks / lot’s of noise, but does not bolt nor run off or jump. Moonie is fine even with less experienced riders as long as we’re not cantering.
Gymkhana’s: Loves action, very flexible and easy to control. Not scared of anything!
Likes: Action!
Dislikes: Horses / dogs near her back side. People touching her tummy. Parents walking too close to her bum when doing pony walks.
