LISA´s THOUGHTS
Horses are heard animals and we need to learn to be the horse’s leader. It is not by brutal force or strengths we get the best results, but by using our instincts and listening to the unspoken signals the horses send out with their body (which is the horse’s way to communicate). By learning this language, we will become true horsemen / woman, and be the true leader that requires to maximize the level in and out of the saddle. I have a huge admiration for the students that learn to master this skill-instinctively, without realizing it, at such young age! (Any person for that matter!). This is one of the goal in my teaching, and what gives me true satisfaction! The horse becomes YOUR teacher!
You’re being taught not only to ride, but to be a leader, apply different approaches depending on what individual you’re working with (adapt yourself and later adapt). The more you put in, the more you get out of it! It is an amazing transformation, which teaches you the foundation to success in any area in life!
We learn to interact with another living individual that is just like us, they all have their personalities, they have their own individual likes / dislikes, and some are more more/less motivated and others more or less eager to work / concentrate. I wish I had had someone not only teaching me how to ride, but make me understand, and see the beauty within that true connection you build. It was only many years after that I started riding that everything linked together.
Teaching, riding, approach, the importance of the ability to adapt and with this, effectiveness. And with this, try to develop more confident riders, finding the right way to work with each individual in a way that would be beneficial for all.
When I say all, I mean the student, horse and, myself. I have found that the hardest for me, is when I have failed this, I have not managed to transmit the message I wanted. My anger in that moment has been more towards myself, a frustration of not being able to transmit just this. I have found myself putting too much emotion in to the teaching. I have then needed to step back, and remind myself that everyone is different; we all don’t want to reach the same goals. I have had to allow each student to fulfill what have brought them to horse riding and having lessons with me and slowly, show them my world, and hopefully, awaken the same passion for riding and horses as I today have. Both as a rider AND instructor, I have had to do my best to understand my partner. They dedicate their lives to me, and it is my obligation to give my horses the best life I can.
And only by understanding their needs, read their signals and vary their work. Most importantly - allow them time to be horses! With this, I’ll have content horses, and expect them to perform well, and take care of my students will. I don’t only owe this to my horses- to give them the best life I can, but to my students too. Samadhi a state of transe where full harmony is achieved. There is one moment in life where you find yourself standing in front of yourself, and working with horses you are constantly confronted with your own self. The way the horse responds to you, is a reflection on the signals you’ve sent out. As a rider, I have strived for complete harmony between me and the horse. Where every little move influences the horse movements and creates energy and results in a reaction. To reach that level, do you not only need to be in complete control over your body, but also mind and soul. I have only touched that level, and will dedicate myself to the fullest to reach that level of Samadhi, where your mind, body and soul are in complete symmetry. Lisa, riding instructor at Tsamadhi riding school, founder and mostly, proud teacher to all students that I taught, am teaching and in the future, will teach!
